Elkmont Cabins and Historic Area : Elkmont is located in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park about 8 miles from Gatlinburg, TN. In the early 1900's this area was a popular location for cabins--typically vacation cabins--populated by a group known as "The Appalachian Club". The cabin tenants have all gone now and most of the cabins will soon be torn-down. Here are photos of most of the ones still standing along with shots of two cemeteries and an old bridge.
