Big South Fork--Bear Creek Loop, 2009 : Bear Creek Loop trail is in the Kentucky portion of Big South Fork River and Recreation area. Like our earlier hikes in this general area, we were impressed with both the quantity and diversity of wildflowers. Note that the overall levels of the South Fork were still elevated--something we didn't expect after so many days without significant rainfall.

Big South Fork--Angel Falls Overlook Trail 2009 : From the Leatherwood Ford area of BSF, cross the river on the wooden platform bridge and walk downstream about 2 miles to a fabulous overlook. Wildflowers abound here in early spring.

Crooked Creek (Al's House), TN : Behind Al's home along Crooked Creek (only about 5 miles north of the Smokies) is a fabulous place for spring wildflowers. The area is along the north slope of a small ridge which is bordered by Crooked Creek--a tributary of the Little River. Each year this location is one of the first in my area to display early spring wildflowers.
