April 6, 2008. Lake 22 with Dave & Bob - thanks to Bob for letting me steal his pictures - this photo work is all his. This is the snowiest I've ever seen Lake 22 (compare to my other galleries). The parking lot wasn't even accessible due to our extra-snowy season this year. We only saw 3 othe people and one dog all day. And we were the first people to actually get to the lake in a while. After crossing a gigantic avalanche chute from earlier in the year, kept going upward across another open field and ended up looking down at the lake from 200' above. It was a brand new perspective on this "same old" hike for me. We then hop-danced down the ridge in snow up to our knees into the trees for a private lunch show at the lake watching & hearing avalanches off the steep cliffs at the far end of the lake. A FANTASTIC day of snowshoeing.
